It's almost time for back-to-school shopping, which means Ohio's tax-free weekend is around the corner.

Each August, shoppers can avoid paying sales and use tax during a three-day period in Ohio. This year's tax-free holiday takes place Aug. 4-6.

Qualifying purchases will be exempt from sales and use tax in the state. Here's what to know about Ohio's tax-free weekend and how to cash in on the holiday.

Ohio’s 2023 tax-free holiday starts Aug. 4 at midnight and ends Aug. 6 at 11:59 p.m.

During the three days, shoppers can buy these items without sales or use tax:

These items quality as school supplies and will be tax free:

Qualifying school instructional material includes reference books, reference maps, globes, textbooks and workbooks.

If all shipped items are qualifying items, shipping and handling charges will not be taxable.
